All About NEET- National Eligibility and Entrance Test
The National Eligibility and Entrance Test also called NEET is an all-India entrance exam for getting enrolled in the best institutes for MBBS. Based on the National Medical Council Act of 2019, the NEET UG Examination is the only entrance test for getting admission to all prestigious government medical institutes in the country, such as (JIPMER) the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, and the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
The (AIPMT) All-India Pre-Medical Test was replaced in 2012 by the NEET (UG). For admission to MBBS and BDS programs until 2018, the CBSE will continue to administer the competitive entrance exam known as NEET.
The Government of India has announced the NEET Examination keeping in mind the One Nation One Exam policy in order to replace the many medical exams that were being held with a single exam. NEET is the only undergraduate medical entrance examination that uses this format; it is an offline, paper-based test.
Who Organises the NEET Exam?
Each year, the National Testing Agency conducts the NEET examination for the candidates who wish to take admission in top government medical colleges in India.
The NTA is only responsible for administering the exam and reporting the results to the DGHS. In 2017, NEET completely took the place of the previous test known as AIPMT (All India Pre-Medical Test). NTA Changes in NEET Examination 2024
We have seen some changes in the NEET Exam for the year 2024. These changes have been implemented to maintain the integrity of applicants taking the examination. This also helps to prevent issues like impersonation and malpractice, and it speeds up the verification process for applicants. NTA made the following changes:
NEET UG has replaced national-level entrance examinations such as JIPMER and AIIMS for admission to MBBS. These exams have been incorporated into NEET, which is now the only entrance examination for admission to BDS and MBBS ad programs in the country.
The application fee for the NEET Exam 2024 has been mentioned in a tabular form. This registration fee has been raised from the last year for all the categories.

Scanned Image Upload
Until last year, applicants had to upload scanned images of their passport-sized photographs along with their signatures to complete the application process. This year, they will have to upload their passport-sized photograph, 10th class certificate, and left-hand thumb impression.
Centres for Examination
There will be various centers in 155 cities across the country, including Ladakh, which is the most recent addition to the list of NEET Exam Centres. Applicants from Ladakh and Kashmir must complete a self-declaration form.
NTA NEET Examination 2024 Application Form: Important Information
- Applicants must carefully select the medium of the question paper, as it cannot be changed during the correction period.
- Applicants will be assigned seats at random.
- OBC Applicants must choose an unreserved category.
- Applicants must keep their debit card/credit card on hand when submitting the NEET 2024 application Form fee online.
- Applicants should save the confirmation page for future reference.
- Late registrations won’t be taken into consideration.
- Applicants must only fill out one form. Multiple forms of applicants will result in candidature cancellation.
Eligibility Conditions for the NEET Examination

- Applicants from India and abroad who wish to enroll in an Indian medical university must have completed NEET.
- Minimum Age: The NEET minimum age requirement is 17 years. There is no maximum age for the NEET exam.
- Seats under the All-India Quota: Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), NRIs, and foreign nationals are all eligible for 15% of the All-India Quota seats. The 15% All India Quota seats are ineligible for applicants from J&K.
- Eligibility: Applicants for NEET must be in or have completed the 12th grade. Their admission or seat will only confirm if they complete the 12th exam.
- A B.Sc. in any of these two subjects Biology, Physics, and Chemistry
- Aspirants may attempt NEET as many times as they like until they meet the eligibility criteria.
How to Complete the NEET Registration Process?
Aspirants must follow some of the steps outlined below to complete the NEET Application forms:
Registration is the first step.
- Navigate to the NEET 2024 official website i.e., www.nta.neet.nic.in.
- If you are registering for the first time, go to the Login page of the NEET website and fill out the necessary information.
- If you are an existing user, select ‘Candidate Login.’ To proceed, enter your Application Number and Password.
- Enter the captcha and then press the ‘Preview and Next’ button.
- In the following step, read and double-check the provided information before clicking the ‘Next’ button.
- Choose ‘OTP Verification’ from the drop-down menu. After clicking, you will receive an OTP to your registered phone number.
- Then click the ‘Submit’ button.
- Complete the NEET 2024 Application Form.
- Submit the Required Documents
- Make Payment of NEET 2024 Application Fees.
- Complete and save the NEET 2024 Confirmation Page.

Selection Criteria of NEET Exam 2024
There will only be one stage before NEET. Four subjects will be included in the offline test. For each subject, there will be two sections covered. Applicants may choose to attempt any 10 of the 15 questions in Section B or any 10 questions in Section A, which together total 35 questions. Therefore, the total number of questions and time usage will stay the same. At the discretion of the college authority, all applicants who successfully meet the cut-offs of the relevant medical colleges may enroll in those institutions. NEET (UG)-2024 will be used for undergraduate medical and dental program admissions for all available seats. Following are the seats that are available under different quotas:
