CBSE offers an annual curriculum for classes IX to XII, encompassing academic content, examination syllabus, learning outcomes, pedagogical practices, and assessment guidelines. Schools are required to follow the curriculum directives provided in the initial pages of the curriculum document, as stated by CBSE in a notice.

According to CBSE, subjects should be taught following the prescribed curriculum, integrating methodologies like Multilingualism, Art-Integrated Education, Experiential Learning, and Pedagogical Plans whenever possible.

In a recent official announcement, CBSE revealed that the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is preparing to introduce revised syllabi and textbooks for Classes 3 and 6. The updated syllabus is presently under development and will be released shortly. Joseph Emmanuel, the Director (Academics) of the board, recommended that schools embrace these new syllabi and textbooks for Classes 3 and 6 instead of using the NCERT-published textbooks until 2023.
