Things to Keep In Mind
a) Applicants are asked to submit their applications only online in response to this advertising on the Online Recruitment Application (ORA) website, which can be found at http://www.upsconline.nic.in. Applicants should NOT write to the Commission in order to get application forms. They are also asked to read the specifics of the vacancies and the directions that have been published here as well as on the website http://www.upsconline.nic.in as thoroughly as they can before applying.
b) The age limit that is shown next to every item is the standard age restriction; however, the age limit may be lowered for SC/ST applicants by up to 5 years and for OBC candidates by up to 3 years with regard to openings that have been reserved for them. Candidates who identify as SC/ST/OBC are required to provide a caste certificate in the stipulated format. Please check the appropriate paragraphs of the document titled “Instructions and Additional Information to Candidates for Recruitment by Selection” for information about age concessions that apply to other categories of candidates.
c) In order to be eligible for the benefits of community reservation, a candidate’s specific caste must be listed on the list of reserved communities that is published by the Central Government. Otherwise, the applicant will not be eligible for the benefits of community reservation. If a candidate completes the application form and states that he or she belongs to the SC/ST/OBC/General category, but then later writes to the Commission to alter his or her category, the Commission is not obligated to consider the applicant’s request to modify his or her category.
d) Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), as mentioned under different item(s) in the VACANCY DETAILS, are eligible to apply for the appropriate postings even if the post is not reserved for them but has been designated as Suitable. This is the case even if the post is not reserved for them but has been identified as Suitable. On the other hand, such applicants will be taken into consideration based on the general merit criteria for selection to such posts. Only those who suffer from a relevant handicap that accounts for at least 40 percent of their total disability will be eligible for the benefit of reservation and other relaxations that are authorised under the regulations.
e) In situations in which a sufficient number of eligible Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) candidates are not available for interview for posts that have been exclusively reserved for them and identified as being suitable for them, the experience qualification may be relaxed (upto 50%) in order to get an adequate number of candidates in accordance with the norms that have been laid out. This pertains to the number of years spent accumulating experience, not the experience itself.
f) Candidates are cautioned that while they are filling out the application form, they should not include any particulars that are incorrect and should not omit any information that is significant. Candidates are further cautioned that they should under no circumstances modify, edit, or meddle in any other way with any entry that is included in a document or its copy that has been authenticated or certified by them, nor should they present a document that has been tampered with or forged. If there is any error or inconsistency between two or more of these papers or their attested or certified copies, an explanation about this discrepancy should be supplied. This applies whether there is one discrepancy or several discrepancies.
