Age Limit for Railway SER Various Trade Apprentice 2023 as of January 1, 2023
- As of the first day of the year 2023, the applicants must have reached the age of 15 and cannot have reached the age of 24. For the sole purpose of this calculation, an individual’s age will be taken from either their certificate of matriculation or their birth certificate.
- In the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST, the upper age limit is extended by 5 years; in the case of candidates belonging to OBC, it is extended by 3 years; and in the case of candidates belonging to the physically handicapped category, it is extended by 10 years.
- There is a relaxation of the upper age limit for ex-servicemen of an additional 10 years, up to the extent of service rendered in the defense forces plus three years, on the condition that they have put in a minimum of six months of service at one stretch. This relaxation does not apply to ex-servicemen who have already joined the government service on the civil side after taking advantage of their status as ex-servicemen for the purpose of their engagement.

- To the extent that there are 1.5 times as many openings that have been announced, document verification interviews will be scheduled with the applicants who have been shortlisted and so enrolled in relevant trades.
- According to the information presented earlier, a conclusive merit list will be compiled according to the categories of community and trade, and it will be arranged in decreasing order of the candidate’s total percentage of marks acquired.
- The final candidates to be recruited would have their documents and original testimonies verified to ensure their authenticity, and they would need to pass an adequate physical examination in accordance with the Medical Proforma.
- Stipends at the stipulated rate shall be granted to the applicants who are ultimately selected for employment in accordance with the regulation.
- In the event that the positions open to members of the OBC group that were listed above are not filled, those positions will be replaced with applicants from the general pool. If there are any vacant positions for SC, they will be filled by ST applicants, if there are any available, and vice versa. And in the event that such an agreement cannot be made, the reserved positions that are still open will be filled with applicants from the general pool (Rule 5 of the Apprenticeship Rules,1992).
- The percentage of slots reserved for people with disabilities and economically disadvantaged customers in a specific institution was determined to be 3% of all available spots. The quota openings in the aforementioned categories are already included in the total vacancies, and as a result, they are not to be filled up outside of the vacancies that have been announced.
- At the time of document verification, applicants who wish to take advantage of the benefits reserved for ESM and members of the armed forces personnel are required to provide a discharge certificate or a serving certificate for at least one of their parents, depending on the circumstance. The applicants who are chosen for ESM and PWD will be positioned in the proper categories, such as UR, SC, ST, or OBC, depending on which group they are a part of. Reservations for Ex-Servicemen, their offspring, and the children of active-duty members of the armed forces will be given apprenticeship opportunities according to the specifications listed below:
- Children of ESM who have died or been handicapped, including those who were murdered or disabled during times of peace
- Former Service Members’ Offspring
- Children of active-duty service members
- Offspring of currently serving Officers
- Ex-Servicemen.
- Any empty positions in the ESM would be replaced by applicants from other programs.
