Post-Wise Qualification

  • For Discipline Code – 107 – Trade Apprentice (Fitter), you need to have completed your secondary school education along with a two-year ITI (Fitter) program that has been approved by NCVT or  .
  • For Discipline Code – 108, “Trade Apprentice (Electrician),” the minimum educational requirement is a high school diploma together with completion of a two-year ITI (Electrician) program that has been approved by NCVT or SCVT.
  • For Discipline Code – 109 – Trade Apprentice (Electronics Mechanic), candidates must have completed their secondary education and then completed a two-year ITI program in electronics mechanics that was approved by NCVT or SCVT.
  • For Discipline Code 110, “Trade Apprentice (Instrument Mechanic),” the minimum educational requirement is a high school diploma together with completion of a two-year ITI program in instrument mechanics that has been approved by NCVT or SCVT.
  • For Discipline Code – 111 – Trade Apprentice (Machinist), you need to have completed your high school education in addition to a two-year ITI (Machinist) program that has been approved by NCVT or SCVT.
  • To be eligible for the position of Technician Apprentice (Mechanical) under Discipline Code 101, applicants must have completed three years of regular, full-time study toward a diploma in mechanical engineering, achieving a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate exam for UR, EWS, and OBC candidates, and 45% for SC/ ST/ PwBD candidates.
  • For Discipline Code 102, which is Technician Apprentice (Electrical), you need to have a diploma in Electrical Engineering that was earned after three years of regular, full-time study, with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate for UR, EWS, and OBC candidates, and 45% in the case of SC, ST, and PwBD candidates.
  • For Discipline Code 103, which is Technician Apprentice (Instrumentation), you need to have a diploma in Instrumentation Engineering that was earned after three years of regular, full-time study, with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate for UR, EWS, and OBC candidates, and 45% in the case of SC, ST, and PwBD candidates.
  • For Discipline Code 104, which is Technician Apprentice (Civil), you need to have a diploma in civil engineering that was earned after three years of regular, full-time study, with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate for UR, EWS, and OBC candidates, and 45% in the case of SC, ST, and PwBD candidates.
  • For the Discipline Code – 105, which is for the position of Technician Apprentice (Electrical and Electronics), the candidate must have a diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering that was earned after three years of regular, full-time study, with a minimum score of 45% for candidates from SC, ST, and PwBD categories.
  • For Discipline Code 106, which is Technician Apprentice (Electronics), you need to have a diploma in Electronics Engineering that was earned after three years of regular, full-time study, with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate for UR, EWS, and OBC candidates, and 45% in the case of SC /S T / PwBD candidates.
  • For Discipline Code – 112 – Graduate Apprentice (BA/ B. Com /B.Sc.) – Regular full time A bachelor’s degree in any field with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate for general candidates, EWS candidates, and OBC candidates, and 45% marks in the case of SC, ST, and PwBD candidates.
  • Class 12 with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate for General, EWS, and OBC applicants and 45% in the case of SC, ST, and PwBD candidates is required for the discipline code 114 position of Trade Apprentice – Data Entry Operator (Fresher).
  • For the Discipline Code – 115 – Trade Apprentice – Data Entry Operator (Skilled Certificate Holders) – Class 12th (but below graduate) with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate for General, EWS, and OBC candidates, and 45% in the case of SC, ST, and PwBD students. In addition, candidates need to be in possession of a Skill Certificate for the position of “Domestic Data Entry Operator” that has been awarded by an awarding organization and represents training of less than one year.
  • For Discipline Code – 116 – Trade Apprentice – Retail Sales Associate (Fresher), candidates must have completed their 12th year of schooling (but not yet graduated) with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate for general candidates, EWS candidates, and OBC candidates, and 45% in the case of SC / ST / PwBD candidates.
  • Class 12 (below graduate) with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate for General, EWS, and OBC applicants and 45% in the case of SC, ST, and PwBD students for Discipline Code – 117 – Trade Apprentice – Retail Sales Associate (Skilled Certificate Holders). In addition, they need to have a Retail Trainee Associate Certificate from an accredited training programme that expires in less than a year.

Things to Remember

The required qualification must have been earned in an accredited university or institute in the relevant discipline as part of a full-time, year-round program of study. This stipulation applies to all discipline codes. The candidate will be ineligible for the aforementioned indicated disciplines if they have a qualification that was obtained through the Part-time, Correspondence, or Distance Learning mode.  In cases where a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) or overall grade point average (OGPA) or letter grade was granted in the Class XII/ITI/Degree/Diploma exams, the applicant must provide the corresponding aggregate percentage of marks in the Online Application. In order to be considered for admission, you must fulfil these conditions. A certificate stating the equal aggregate percentage of marks based on the candidate’s cumulative grade point average (CGPA), overall grade point average (OGPA), or letter grade must be provided at the time of document verification. Candidates who fail to provide this certificate will be disqualified.

Diploma earned through a recognized institute or university’s lateral entrance program (Class XII/ITI) and accepted into the second year of the diploma program will also be considered.

Candidates who have already completed an apprenticeship or who are currently enrolled in an apprenticeship program in accordance with the Apprenticeship Act of 1961/1973/1992, as amended from time to time, or who have had work experience for a period of one year or more are unable to apply.

Applicants who have already finished three years in the relevant discipline as of the date of counting 31.12.2022, after attaining the prescribed qualification according to the most recent semester or year marksheet, will NOT BE ELIGIBLE for engagement as apprentices in the organisation.

Qualifications earned by candidates via correspondence courses, online courses, or other forms of non-traditional education will not be considered.

Candidates that possess higher professional degrees, such as a Bachelor of Engineering (or its equivalent), a Master of Business Administration (or its equivalent), or a Juris Doctor (or its equivalent) will NOT be considered. If a candidate conceals information about whether or not they already possess a higher qualification or are working toward obtaining one, they will be ineligible for consideration at any step of the selection or termination process, as well as at any point during the training period.

The selection process for IOCL Apprentice Exam 2023 consists of the following:

Age of the Candidate

Minimum age of 18 and maximum age of 24 as of the date of reckoning, which is the 31st of December 2022 (relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST, which means up to a maximum of 29 years, and 3 years for OBC-NCL, which means up to a maximum of 27 years, for the jobs reserved for them).

PwBD candidates will receive an age relaxation of up to 10 years, while SC/ST candidates would receive an age relaxation of up to 15 years, and OBC-NCL candidates will receive an age relaxation of up to 13 years.
